About me

About me

Alexandra Gauder – pedagogue and ceramicist with more than 20 years of experience.

After training as a pedagogue I did an apprenticeship in ceramics – the impulse came more than 20 years ago from my godmother Anneliese. She taught me the craft at the potter's wheel, and I was hooked from the very first moment.

Even then I loved the calm, concentrated work – that focused doing where you forget everything around you. Being “in the here and now” made my heart sing.

For a while, though, I followed the pedagogical path. Working with deaf children and young people for many years, I learned sign language – and my hands moved centre stage once again. What a gift!

“And suddenly you know: it's time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.”
Meister Eckhart

Back to the roots

The love of the craft never let go of me. After an intense time with plenty of ups and downs, I am now grateful to work in my own small pottery studio. A big thank you to my family for their hands-on support!

On the clay track …

Anyone who knows me knows that music – above all singing with dear friends and bandmates – has always been a very important part of my life. And in nature I recharge and find inspiration.
